Finally allowed into Mongolia at 3.00pm after a 26 hour wait at the border. Only time to drive to Olgii and find a room. Quite surprised to find a section of tarmac road on the run into the town.

100km of tarmac out of Khovd helped us reach Altai by evening. Had our first puncture as we pulled up in front of hotel. This fixed by the Mongol Rally repair Centre.
