일정 설명

This is almost a circular tour: I started in Mytholmroyd and finished in Brearley. A mile, perhaps, separates the two. I could do this since I was using the bus from and to Halifax.
I normally use Outdoor Active to plan my tours as I have a subscription to include Ordnance Surveys maps. I am also cautious so I use Komoot as well, primarily for navigation, which I think it does better than Outdoor Active.
When I got off the bus in Mytholmroyd, Komoot recognised where I was, but Outdoor Active insisted I was still in Leeds. This was annoying since Komoot had not recognised parts of the route I had planned with Outdoor. Nevertheless, I decided to hope for the best and pressed on.
I followed roads until the end of Stubbings Close where there was a narrow path and quite muddy in places.
The path eventually crossed a private road and started ascending. In places, the path was lined with stones to aid climbing. At the top I turned right into Hollin Hey Wood and for a few yards all was fine. However, I could not see a path and Komoot could not help and Outdoor would not. Annoying I did find some boggy ground, hidden under a carpet of leaves, so my right boot went right in to its top and I almost toppled over.
Looking to my left, I could see sky, so I decided the best thing was to climb carefully upwards. It took some time, but I eventually reached a proper path that took me through Sutcliffe Wood and to a viewing point that was a bit like the Druid’s Altar near Bingley, but with a bench. There was then a bit of a scramble before I came to Weather Hill Lane.
I turned off on a path to the left and then followed small empty roads down to cross in order: the railway, the Calder River and the Rochdale Canal, before reaching Brearley where there is a row of quaint terrace houses. There are some really old fine stone houses, many hundreds of years old to be seen on the route.
There are fine views from Sutcliffe Wood and many views over open countryside on the way back to Brearley looking over the valley.
